Bearing Finder
Measured a bearing but can’t read the number on it? Enter the bore (inside diameter), outside diameter and width below. The Bearing Finder searches recorded metric deep groove and inch-series ball bearings, listing dimension candidates before other close sizes. Search allowances do not establish fit or interchangeability.
How to measure a bearing
- Bore (inside diameter): measure across the hole in the inner ring, at its widest point.
- Outside diameter: measure across the outer ring.
- Width: measure the thickness of the outer ring, from face to face.
Use calipers on clean, undamaged surfaces and repeat each measurement in several positions. Record the range if the readings differ: averaging does not repair wear or damage. The finder lists close candidates within 0.6 mm (about 0.024 in), but this is a search allowance, not an acceptable fit tolerance. Confirm the nominal dimensions, full designation and machine requirements before selecting a replacement.
Metric or inch?
Most bearings, including the common 6000, 6200 and 6300 series, are metric. If your measurements come out as neat fractions of an inch (for example 3/8 in bore), the bearing may be an inch-series type such as an R6. Choose the unit you measured in; the finder converts it for you (1 inch = 25.4 mm).
Once you have a dimension candidate, open its record to review source status and exact variant requirements, or compare sizes on the Bearing Size Chart. If you know the number already, use the search on the homepage.
